Have you ever had a demon throw you across a room?
Maybe your first thought is one of deep skepticism, believing these types of demonic activities do not happen in America. Yes, they may occur in Nigeria where witch doctors are prevalent, but certainly not in America.
Like hello! If these activities are in the Bible, they can also happen here in America.
They brought the boy to Him. When he saw Him, immediately the spirit threw him into a convulsion, and falling to the ground, he began rolling around and foaming at the mouth. And He asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” And he said, “From childhood. It has often thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, take pity on us and help us!” (Mark 9:20-22)
In the early 1990′s, I spent three to four hours each day in prayer, two hours or more per day in Bible study and reading, and two days per week fasting. So, you would think if anyone should have been free of problems with demons, it should have been me, right?
But not true! I had a problem with a demon, which eventually threw me across a room while people watched it happen.
Let’s stop here and settle something, okay?
Can Christians be demon possessed?
Like the Trinity, we humans are three part-beings made up of body, soul, and spirit. At salvation, Jesus moves into our spirits and reigns there forever and ever. He then becomes our treasure in earthen vessel and we say, “We’re saved.”
Ours souls (mind, emotions, and wills) have to be renewed to agree with Jesus and His teachings. And our bodies (lusts, desires, pleasures, appetites, etc.) have to be brought into subjection, much like a slave. Both our souls and bodies are continuing works which we struggle with while we live in our terrestrial bodies here on earth.
To be demon possessed, a believer’s spirit would have to be inhabited by a demon. Yet, this can not happen because our spirits are sealed by the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption.
Therefore, Christians can not be demon possessed, but they sure can have demon problems with their minds, emotions, wills, and bodies.
My particular problem was a deep rooted one.

Mr. Larry, thank you for sharing about your own personal experience. That really helps . . .and to know that we can’t be possessed but can have ‘problems’. God bless you!
Debbie,
Thanks. Most Christians would suffer the heebies jeebies just thinking that demons could cause them problems. Oh well! More on that later.
I think to some extent, we all are subject to demon ‘oppression’.
Mike,
Yes, I agree. Whether we like it or not, our whole earthly atmosphere is besieged by demons of some type or another all day long.
It was a long process that took years for the demons to leave me. The things that I dabbled in as a child were strong strongholds. I was ignorant, but eventually found out as an adult how the demonic operated. Subsequently, I was set free. Soon I will be doing a blog on that experience.
Your piece on Spiritual Warfare is a great topic and much needed truth. Thank you for sharing. God bless you and your ministry.
Yahobahne,
Thanks. You’re an interesting person and I will be checking out your blog in the future.
