Some like to dismiss Easter as just a pagan holiday, not worthy of Christian celebration. And yes, maybe the name has pagan origins, but who really cares about some dead, dumb god who never had any power. Jesus has reclaimed this day for His glory, and if you doubt it, try to travel somewhere by an airplane today. Almost impossible, right? Jesus reclaimed this day for His glory. And guess what? He is going to reclaim every other day of the year for His glory.
Why? He’s alive!

So if Baal and its accessories are dead and dumb now, they must have been dead and dumb then, so why did God get all hot about the golden calf if the calf too was dead and dumb?
Loyalties to the dancing about of worthless gods of stone and metal is the issue. Motives and loyalties.
When… (answer: not once) in the Bible, Old or New Testaments, did God tolerate relics and symbols of other gods in the house.
Because it’s cute doesn’t authorize our adoption of symbols and relics of false gods.
jane,
There is something like 3,000,000 Hindu gods and each has a special day honoring it. Whether we celebrate Christ’s resurrection on a day named Easter or Ram or Vishnu, does not bother me in the least. Jesus is alive and the others (to me) are dead and dumb, as in Isaiah 43:21-23.
I believe that Jesus has reclaimed Easter (and Christmas also) for His glory, and will eventually do the same for everyday of the year so that His glory will fill the earth.
But I also agree with Paul when he stated that festivals or new moons or sabbaths are shadows of things to come, but the substance is of Christ (Colossians 2:16-17)
