Something Wrong In Christiandom?

passion-vs-church

This is an old cartoon, but it illustrates a major problem in Christianity. So, is there something wrong in Christiandom?

  1. That depends on how all inclusive your definition of Christendom is. There are more schisms and isms than Carter’s ever had pills. Parts of it are in good shape, parts are deader ‘n the proverbial door nail and some haven’t spoken to each other in centuries. I don’t buy lumping all who know how to spell Jesus’ name in “Christendom.”

My answer is yes, there is a lot wrong in Christendom, but there’s a lot right. The identities of the rights and the wrongs come down to the individuals, not the names above the doors.

The most important “right” in Christendom is that Christ lives inside His people. The biggest “wrong” – from my point of view – is the thinking that a church is a building, and not a living, breathing bride in love with the Bride Groom.
