Raising People From The Dead – Are You Silly?

For those Red Letter Christians who really, really want to obey what Jesus said:

And as you go, preach,  saying, “The kingdom of God is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give. (Matthew 10: 7-8)

Now, if you think that raising the dead is no longer happening, then you need to check out Dave Hogan of Freedom Ministries. His ministry has over 400 people raised from the dead.

And for the rest of us, what’s our problem? Huh?

  1. Larry, we are all our own worst enemies. What does the good book say, Paul says he has limited no one, but we are limited by our own desires that war inside of us.

The bible puts no limits around us “John 14:12…what ever Jesus did, we can do…”.

    It’s all about faith.

Other than Jesus Christ, my trip to David Hogan changed my life.

    markpedder,

I ‘ve checked your site and you are one of my heros.
God bless you and your ministry.

  3. I’d like to be silly and say I’ve never raised someone from the dead because I’ve never had a dead person ask me to pray for them.

But the truth is, it’s scary enough trying to act on what I think God said, never mind do something like bring life to a dead person.

Yet, I’d really love to have that kind of faith.

If someone asks me to pray for their bad back and afterwards says they feel a bit better, I can imagine that maybe something happened (or maybe it didn’t).

But if I pray for someone to be raised from the dead, then it’s pretty obvious whether it has worked or not. People don’t get almost-raised from the dead, or a little bit raised. Or “I raised his hand from the dead, but the rest of him is still dead.”

I don’t know what the answer is. I would love to have the faith to even just successfully pray for someone’s healing. But, to be honest, it’s just hit and miss. Sometimes people get healed and sometimes they don’t, and I don’t know why.

Perhaps it’s to do with faith, or my concept of God’s character, or something I haven’t thought of. Or all these things.

There have been times when I’ve felt full of faith for someone’s healing, but nothing has happened when I’ve prayed. Other times, I’ve just prayed to keep someone happy (no faith on my part) and yet they’ve been healed.

I am in the process (with my DH) of seeking out why it seems so hard to see miracles, healings, dead people raised, etc.

I want these things to be part of my ordinary, everyday life.

This is my thoughts on this.

My faith is up and down like the waves in the ocean. Some days I have it. Some days I don’t. If it depends on whether my brain and emotions are feeling up to praying for the sick, most people will be in a lot of trouble and die.

But my faith is in God. He said to do it, so that’s what I do. It’s His responsibility to make things happen, not mine. I do not have a success percentage, He does. And it’s 100%.

So, I pray for the sick. And eventually, heaven will kick in and the devil will let go.
