“In the Kingdom of God, it doesn’t matter whether we are raising the dead or taking a nap because it all pays the same, if we are in the will of God,” said Bob Jones many years ago.
If you have ever heard Bob Jones speak, you are instantly aware of two things: Bob is an Arkansas country boy without any pretense of urban sophistication, and he is a profound prophet and seer.
So, what do you think about his statement? Do you believe it?
Swimming Upstream appears at this blog site on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. It’s a little of this and a little of that, all written to encourage and exhort believers in their Christian journeys.
Many years ago I went to a house group in which I was a joint leader. Someone at the beginning had a word of knowledge that I was tired and needed to sleep. I agreed, climbed over the back of the sofa onto the floor and slept like a log through three hours of a noisy meeting. In reality I am a very light sleeper and under normal circumstances could never do that.
Frank,
That’s a great story.
The emphasis Bob Jones was making with his statement is that the Kingdom of God is about doing the will of the Father, and not striving to do works.
can I expand on Bob Jones, never had heard him…
Grace never comes through works but by through Grace we do works, especially outside the Kingdom… Grace makes works natural and inclusive to who we are in Christ.
God is so good, it is through our works we get to show our Christ King off! Doesn’t get us higher on a ladder to heaven as those usually just can’t quite get there.
Cindy,
“can I expand on Bob Jones, never had heard him…”
If you Google – Bob Jones, Prophet – you will get an eyeful. Some will like him and some will not. Such as the way that it is on the internet.
To my way of thinking, he has been extremely accurate.
