In my latest YouTube Video, entitled “Last Chance Fasting for California and America, I suggested a model prayer, taken from Daniel 9:4-19:
“Alas, O Lord, our great and awesome God who sent His Son so that we can enter into Your presence.
“O Lord, we Americans and Californians, have sinned, committed iniquity, acted wickedly and rebelled against You and Your ways.
“Moreover, we have not listened to the voice of the Holy Spirit and have turned aside from the teachings by Jesus in the Gospels and the teachings laid out for us by the Apostles Paul, James, Peter and John, and if that were not bad enough, we continually break the Ten Commandments, especially the first one because we worship other gods, like self, prosperity, our individualism, our freedoms and more.
“Righteousness belongs to You, O Lord, but to us open shame because of our unfaithful deeds which have been committed against You.
“Open shame belongs to me, our President, our Governors, our Senators, our Representatives, our Mayors, our fathers and our families because we have sinned against You.
“To the Lord our God belongs compassion and forgiveness, for we have rebelled against You.
“Indeed, all of America and California, have transgressed Your laws and Your teachings, turning aside from the voice of the Holy Spirit. We stand guilty before You.
“O Lord, in accordance with Your mercy and lovingkindness, we ask that You would act mercifully and lessen the effects of Your judgments on California and America.
“O Lord, hear our prayer! O Lord forgive! O Lord listen and take action! O Lord, do no delay!
“Amen.”
