Depressed About The Election Results, What Are You Going To Do?

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away,  or so it seems, I was a painting contractor. What a collection of motley Christians we were. Oh my!

One of my painters was a gifted musician and worship leader. He could play his guitar like Charlie Daniels and hit the high notes on a trumpet just like Louis Armstrong. And when he played, the presence of the Holy Spirit would fall on a group.

But he had one problem: depression.

Every morning, he would fail to show up for work. I would jump in my truck, drive to his apartment, and bang my fist on his door. He would mumble, “I’m too depressed to work today. Leave me alone, okay?”

I would bang louder on the door; and eventually, he would open the door. I would barge into the room and kick the door shut. He would stand there in his jockey shorts, wrapped in a sheet, and his face would look like a puppy which had been kicked in by a bully.

Then, I would say, “In the name of Jesus, I command that unclean spirit to go from you, now!”

His face would instantly change; a smile would appear. He would give me a hug and say, “Thanks brother.” Then, he would get ready and go to work.

This happened every morning. It was one of my regular routines.

Now understand this, the young man had problems. At one time, he and his wife were Christian singers, headed for the big time, but their marriage fell apart. Another man. Ugly divorce. Hurting children. No money. Big debts. Loss of ministry. Etc.

But his biggest problem was not the depression – after all it was only a demon – but rather,  it was that he never took the time to build up his inner man with prayer and studying the Bible. How sad!

So, if the 2008 election has depressed you, consider this: Spend time in prayer. Study your Bible. Then, open your mouth and say, “Spirit of depression, I command you to go in Jesus’ name.”

The depression will go.

So, What do You Think The Lord Is Saying Or Doing? (Friday: 11/14/2008)

It is my belief that we Christians depend too much on what an individual pastor or an individual prophet or another anointed person thinks that he (or she) is hearing from the Lord, rather than trying to hear for ourselves or listening to many other voices from the Body of Christ. Dependence on just a few anointed people is a guaranteed recipe for failure.

So, each day, I invite you to write what you believe the Lord is telling you, showing you, or doing for you. Testimonies. Short teachings. Prophetic words. Scriptures. Prayers. Whatever you believe that the Body of Christ needs to know or will be blessed by hearing. Try to keep your words under 100 words. And if you need to, attach a link to your site for longer messages.

So, What Do You Think The Lord Is Saying Or Doing? (Monday: 11/10/2008)

It is my belief that we Christians depend too much on what an individual pastor or a prophet or another anointed person thinks that he (or she) is hearing from the Lord, rather than hearing for ourselves or listening to many different voices from the Body of Christ. Dependence on just a few anointed people is a guaranteed recipe for failure.

Need Some Encouragement?

The following is an awesome prophetic word posted on the Elijah List. Read the whole article over and over until you believe it:

“The time is coming (the devil knows) when the Church will have discernment like never before. We’ll be able to cut through all the confusing spiritual red tape that the enemy throws at us and we will see clearly with 20/20 spiritual vision. (See the rest of this article by Al Thomas here.)

God Bless Barack Obama and Joe Biden

Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. (Romans 13:1)

Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king. (Titus 2:17)

As it looks right now, Senator Barack Obama will be the next president of the United States. He has won Pennsylvania, Ohio, and New Mexico. Though Senator John McCain has not conceded as yet, it looks bleak for his campaign.

So, President-elect Barack Obama, I pledge my prayer support for you and your family, as well as for Senator Joe Biden and his family. I pray that your administration will be like King David and do the will of God for today’s generation of Americans. God bless you and Michelle.

As for me, I have missed the voice of the Lord concerning this election. For that, I ask your forgiveness, especially if I have caused you any agony or pain with my prophetic words.

I have always taught that prophetic words come from three sources: God, a person’s imagination (or flesh), or Satan. Over the next few days, I will seek the Lord on why I missed Him on this election. And then, I will write my findings.

So, once again, God bless Barack Obama and forgive me for my errors…. Larry Who

If An Eight-Year Old Weeps Over Abortion, What’s Our Problem?

The following was written by my son, Scott, on a comment to an article yesterday:

Disclaimer: I am larrywho’s son, Scott, who lives in Missouri. this is my first wordpress post so hopefully I don’t mess up the links.

I am pro-life but am not overtly vocal about it…but the Lord hit me with a ton of bricks yesterday. I was picking up my 3rd grade son yesterday from school while listening to talk radio. The show was making the pro-life argument and discussing some of the gruesome details of abortion. I debated whether I would change the station once my son got in the car…I decided not to change the station.

My son knew the basic definition of abortion because he asked me about it a couple of weeks ago…the result of a curious mind that heard the word ‘abortion’ at school. But beyond that discussion, I had not given him further details about abortion. Trying to shelter him from it, I guess.

When my son got in the car, they played an audio clip of a nurse describing her experience with an aborted infant that somehow survived the process…then was taken to a room to die. She described how she held and tried to comfort the infant in its final 45 minutes of life. My son heard the entire testimony. I said nothing during the clip. I decided to let him listen and react to what he heard.

I looked back at my son after the testimony of this nurse…the tears welling up until they poured forth from his eyes. A great father/son discussion followed.

Bottom line: Even a 3rd grader, who does not understand a lot things about this world, can see with absolute clarity how detestable and horrible abortion is.

Lord, thank you for hitting me with that ton of bricks…I needed it.

If you want to hear the clip, download the podcast titled, “October 16, 2006 – Hour 2″  here.

When I read this, I cried. Half of my tears came from the pride I felt about my grandson’s reaction to abortion. But sadly, the other half came because of the shame that I felt about my lack of tears over abortion.
