Swimming Upstream: “What’s On Your Bucket List?”

In the movie, The Bucket List, two terminally ill men write out on a sheet of paper a list of dreams and fantasies each would like to do before he kicks the bucket (or dies). Because one of the two men is wealthy, the two are able to live out their bucket lists’ dreams.

The two men leap from planes, drive race cars, eat caviar, motorcycle on the Great Wall of China, get tattoos, eat at a world famous restaurant and do other wild things before they kick the bucket.

Now, I have learned a long time ago that the Lord does not mind me enjoying myself while I walk on the earth. Yes, my citizenship is in heaven, yes I have a love for the church, yes I have a burden for the poor, but it’s okay to enjoy a fine meal or a movie or whatever. It’s just a matter of my wants and dreams being within His plans for my life.

So, what’s on your bucket list?

Swimming Upstream appears at this blog site on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. It’s  a little of this and a little of that, all written  to encourage and exhort believers in their Christian journeys.

  1. Kicking things off, I’d like to:

    1. Travel in Ireland for two weeks. Go to Dublin and Belfast. Drink a Guinness in pubs. Eat kidney pies and lots of potatoes. Kiss the Blarney Stone.

    2. I want to dunk a basketball. Not just any dunk, but a 360 two-handed slam-bang dunk over two defenders.

  2. Hi Larry,

Give us a shout when you do go to Ireland and once you have come over the other side of the Atlantic, you might as well visit the UK. Let us know whenever you do and maybe we can meet up.

Have you read “The power to change the world” by Rick Joyner. I have just finished it and when I did you were one the first people I thought would love to read that book and be inspired by it.

I hope you and your family are all well.

  3. ransom 33,

If the Lord allows, I would love visiting England.

And thanks, I will check out Rick Joyner’s book.

  4. The older I get, the less I care about the things of this world but I would like to write a book. I would love to visit the Holy Land. And, I have always wanted an RV to be able to load up with my husband and my doggies and travel around the United States.

  5. Ronni

I guess I too have given up my bucket list. I used to have a list… anymore I’m happy to make it through today and sleep a good night of sleep… lol.
