Prayers for America (11/30/2017)

“What shall I do? What shall I do?”

We have all been in situations where we are overwhelmed by our situations and have no answers and don’t even know how to pray for help. In these moments of crisis, there is one thing believers can all do.

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrew 4:16)

My prayer today:

Lord, help American believers to understand that we have a High Priest in Jesus Christ who understands every one of our weaknesses and has compassion for us in our times of stress and crisis. Remind us, Lord, that we can always run to Him and He will help us walk through our troubles. (Based on Hebrews 4:15-16)

Prayers for America (11/16/2017)

11160680_10202970551704040_6853963304935390655_n

A couple of years ago, the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart: “Your leaders could get you killed.”

My first thoughts after hearing the Holy Spirit speak these words were related to our government leaders, such as president, secretary of state, secretary of defense, governor, mayor, and so forth.

But upon reflection, I believe the Holy Spirit was referring to our Christian leaders. And since we live in America, almost all of our leaders are pastors, right?

Am I saying that pastors don’t love their congregations? No, not at all. Love is not the problem because I’m sure most pastors are willing to die for their fellowship members and do everything they can to protect them.

What am I saying?

And Jesus Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ (Ephesians 4:11-13)

Pastors are just one part of the biblical plan set in place by Jesus to equip His church. The pastors have shepherding gifts, which mainly deal with problems that are seen in present day America. But the apostles and prophets, on the other hand, have gifts to prepare believers for what they see coming to America in the near future. Not only that, the apostles and prophets have plans and strategies to help guide us through the problems.

The obvious answer is to have apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers in every church. Then congregations should be equipped and prepared for today and tomorrow, right?

Ah, does anyone see a problem here?

Jesus said to the Pharisees and scribes, “All too well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition. (Mark 7:9)

Traditions!

In His day, Jesus had a hard time changing Jewish mindsets based on traditions, which had been set in place for nearly five hundred years or since the time of the prophet Malachi. Each part of the mindset had grown year by year, rabbi by rabbi, layer by layer, until the traditions superseded God’s Word.

Now consider this?

Our traditions have been set in place for five hundred years or since Martin Luther nailed his Ninety-Five Thesis to the University of Wittenberg church door in 1517. It was Luther and his reformation cohorts who replaced the priests of the Catholic Churches with the pastors in Protestant Churches. Then, year by year, pastor by pastor, seminary class by seminary class, the importance of the pastor has grown until today it also supersedes God’s Word.

Thus, do we really believe it will be any easier for us to change our cement-like mindsets of today than it was for Jesus in His day?

Sadly, I don’t.

My prayer today:

Lord, break into our modern temples of today, with whips in hand if need be, to destroy our traditions so that we are prepared for the days ahead with Your leaders set in place. (Based on John 2:15)

Prayers for Soon Coming Calamities in America (11/14/2014)

If you enter the word “preppers” on Google, there will be 8,220,000 results. The definition of a prepper is a person who believes a catastrophic disaster or emergency is likely to occur in the future and makes active preparations for it now, typically by stockpiling food, ammunition, and other supplies.

I have written a book on the subject: Preparation + Planning = Survival, on the subject. It’s written from a prophetic Christian viewpoint.

My biggest problem with most preppers is that they are only looking out for themselves and their families. You know, store up food, water, and guns — shoot anyone who tries to steal your food and water.

Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, (Philippians 2:4)

I believe in preparing ahead of time for calamities, but in doing so, we must also provide for our neighbors.

How can we do that?

If God could give Joseph a plan to save Egypt from seven years of famine, He can do the same for us now.

My prayer today:

Lord, raise up modern Josephs with Your anointing and Your plans to provide for neighborhoods and cities in the coming years of famine due to calamities and whatever.

Prayers for America (11/9/2017)

Throughout history, God has used extremists to bring His messages to nations. Most of these extremists have walked in callings of prophets and apostles. Some examples have been Elijah, Jeremiah, John the Baptist, Apostle Paul, John Wesley, Charles Finney, William Booth, and countless others.

“The prophets in their days are fully accepted of God and totally rejected by men.” (Leonard Ravenhill)

My prayer:

Lord, send Your extremists to America with their mouths filled with Your words that will expose our unfruitful works of darkness to ourselves and to all. (Based on Ephesians 5:11)

Prayers for America (11/2/2017)

“How will the Lord ever bring unity to the Body of Christ in America?” asked a friend.

What immediately popped into my mind was a scene from the book, Band of Brothers, Stephen Ambrose’s nonfiction classic, detailing the fighting experiences of the one hundred and fifty soldiers in E Company during WWII.

The scene that flashed across my brain was of the soldiers fighting at the Battle of the Bulge. How they dug foxholes in frozen ground, lay in the foxholes in pairs, and then held each other in order to stay warm in the zero degree weather during the night. Italian Catholics from Brooklyn cuddled up with Baptist rednecks from Alabama, Iowa Lutherans with California Pentecostals, and so forth.

The soldiers later admitted they shared their most intimate facts with their foxhole mates and were willing to die for each other.

I eventually answered my friend. “The Lord will bring heavy persecution and extreme hardship on us believers. It’s our only hope,” I said.

My prayer today:

Lord, send Your Holy Spirit to help American believers know You better and better in the years ahead, to know the power of Your resurrection, and also to embrace the fellowship of Your suffering, being conformed to Your death in all of our words and actions. (Based on Philippians 3:10)

Prayer for American Christians’ Eyes to be Opened (10/30/2017)

dscf1526

How many of us can lay hands on sick people and then know they will receive their healing? How many of us can cast demons out of  people with just a word? And how many of us can bring dead people back to life?

If we can’t perform these three kingdom of heaven miracles, are we upset with ourselves? If we’re not upset, why aren’t we upset?

My prayer today:

Lord, open American believers’ eyes to the realization that today’s unbelief and apathy will cause us to reap what we sow in the days ahead. (Based on Galatians 6:8)

Prayers for America (10/26/2017)

The longest and most famous teaching by Jesus was His Sermon on the Mount. (Matthew 5-7). Most of us have read it so many times that it doesn’t have much impact on us anymore.

Yet, I believe that if Christians actually lived and walked in a Sermon-of-the-Mount lifestyle, we’d change America in a short period of time.

My prayer today:

Lord, send the Holy Spirit to American believers to open our hearts up to loving the truths in Your Sermon of the Mount teaching.

If only we would have…

These are the sorriest words in the English language after a calamity strikes. Why? Because then it’s too late to do what should have been done earlier.

My prayer today:

Lord, help American believers to rise up early to seek You now and cause our souls to thirst for You and our flesh to long for You because our nation is a dry and thirsty land in need of Your Spirit now. (Based on Psalm 63:1)

Prayers for American Christians’ Eyes to be Opened (10/17/2017)

dscf1526

If I could, I’d run up and down the West Coast, screaming, “Don’t you see the calamities heading our direction? Don’t you believe we ought to change now? Tomorrow may be too late!”

Then, why don’t I do it?

A bald-headed, seventy-one year old man — without the anointing of God upon him — will have the same effect warning people as a person spitting into the ocean to raise its water level. Not much!

My prayer today:

Lord, I pray that the Spirit of Truth will open the eyes of American believers to all truth and will reveal to us things that will soon arrive here on the West Coast. (Based on John 16:13)

Prayers for America (10/12/2017)

11160680_10202970551704040_6853963304935390655_n

Do we really believe demons are a big cause of our problems in America?

Here’s a fact: 68% of church going men view porn on a regular basis.

To back up the above figures: 76% of young adult Christians (18-24 years old) regularly seek out porn.

Then they were all amazed and spoke among themselves, saying, “What a word this is! For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out.” (Luke 4:36)

We are to be like Jesus while we live in this world. If He had authority and power to cast out unclean spirits, then we also should have the same authority and power.

Okay, then why aren’t we casting out demons?

There are probably many answers including bad teaching, lack of fasting, lack of prayer, lack of faith, reliance on psychology and counseling, deception by Satan, and so forth. But remember this — these answers are really excuses for not wholeheartedly seeking the Lord and then a willingness to follow His directions.

My prayer today:

Lord, raise up a generation of American believers who are willing to pay the price of seeking Your anointing to release the captives and set the oppressed free from the bondages placed on them by the kingdom of darkness. (Base on Luke 4:18)
