Tuesday’s Prayers for Asia (12/6/2016)

“We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.” (Mother Teresa)

On some days , when I don’t feel like fasting for Asia and its 4.4 billion people, Mother Teresa’s words encourage me to continue onward and add my little drop of faith to God’s plans for Asia.

My prayer today:

Lord, use my little drop of fasting to free those who are wrongly imprisoned, to lighten the burden of those who work for You, to let the oppressed go free, and remove the chains that bind people in the various nations of Asia. (Based on Isaiah 58:6)

Join with me on Tuesdays to fast and pray for  prisoners in Asia, according to Hebrews 13:3.

Why Asia?

1. 4.4 billion people live in Asia.

2.. 85.4% of world’s unevangelized people live in Asia. (Unevangelized means they may have heard the gospel but have no understanding on how to respond.)

3. The world’s three largest non-Christian religions – Muslim, Hindu, and Buddhists – are based in Asia.

4. Of the 37 countries of the world that are less than 10% Christian, 32 are in Asia. Of the 14 countries, that are less than 2% Christian, 12 are in Asia.

5. 600 million people live in abject poverty in the slums of Asia.

6. 85-90% of unreached people live in Asia. (Unreached means that they have never heard the name of Jesus.) (Operation World: The Definitive Prayer Guide to Every Nation)

Tuesday’s Prayers for Asia (11/22/2016)

Do you need any heavenly rewards?

“And when you fast, don’t make it obvious, as the hypocrites do, for they try to look miserable and disheveled so people will admire them for their fasting. I tell you the truth, that is the only reward they will ever get. But when you fast, comb your hair and wash your face. Then no one will notice that you are fasting, except your Father, who knows what you do in private. And your Father, who sees everything, will reward you. (Matthew 6:16-18 NLT)

But why Asia?

1. 4.4 billion people live in Asia.

6. 85-90% of unreached people live in Asia. (Unreached means that they have never heard the name of Jesus.) (Operation World: The Definitive Prayer Guide to Every Nation)

My prayer today:

Lord, I pray to You, the Lord of the Harvest, to send out laborers into the harvest fields of Asia. (Based on Luke 10:2)

Join with me on Tuesdays to fast and pray for Asia, according to Hebrews 13:3.

Tuesday’s Prayers for Asia (11/15/2016)

During a prayer conference call for Business Men’s Fellowship in late September of this year, I had a quick vision.

In it, I saw a large passenger jet taking off from a major international airport. As the jet lifted off the ground and began to climb upward, an explosion blasted the jet to pieces, destroying it before it ever reached its cruising altitude.

The vision troubled me, but I didn’t say anything at the time to the other men on the prayer line. I sought the Lord on its meaning and prayed every which way for it not to happen.

Last night, on another prayer conference call, I felt the Lord revealed the vision’s meaning:

Now, whatever our feelings may be about President-elect Donald Trump, I have no doubt the Lord caused or allowed his election to happen at this time in our nation’s history. We can all argue our differing viewpoints, but Scripture states that He removes leaders and sets up other leaders.

As I prayed along with the other men last night, I felt the Lord showed me that one of the main reasons He set Trump in place was to help heal our nation’s relations with Israel. These relations have been severely strained under President Obama’s leadership.

I believe the vision reveals how Satan desires to destroy any efforts by our government to change its present policies toward Israel and the Middle East before they have a chance to be set in place. You see, God wants America to stand with Israel!

We need to pray and fast for America’s partnership and alliance with Israel to take place according to the Lord’s plans.

My prayer today:

Lord, help America and its government to submit to Your will and Your plans for Israel, and therefore to resist Satan and his evil plans to destroy Israel. (Based on James 4:7)

Join with me on Tuesdays to fast and pray for Asia, according to Hebrews 13:3.

Tuesday’s Prayers for Prisoners (10/25/2016)

Could a mariner sit idle if he heard the drowning cry?

Could a doctor sit in comfort and just let his patient die?

Could a fireman sit idle, let men burn and give no hand?

Can we sit at ease in Zion, with the world around us – DAMNED?

(Why Revival Tarries? by Leonard Ravenhill

My prayer today:

Lord, help us American believers to hear the cries of the lost people in Asia who have no hope without Jesus. Give us no rest until we do something on their behalf.

Join with me on Tuesdays to fast and pray for  prisoners in Asia, according to Hebrews 13:3.

Tuesday’s Prayers for Prisoners (10/18/2016)

The door burst open and Quon stood in the doorway, his face red with anger.

“Next time, you better have a baby boy or I’ll send you back to North Korea. You’ll end up in prison, and this time, you’ll die there,” he screamed with his fists clenched, ready to strike.

Twenty-year old Soo Jin flinched, lifting her arms to protect her face from the expected blows by her elderly Chinese husband. She said nothing, knowing her excuses would only provoke him to greater wrath.

“And don’t even spend time thinking about your baby,” Quon said, “she’s dead.”

“How? Can I see her?” said Soo Jin, looking up at his gray whiskered face, but revealing little response in her vacant eyes.

Quon shook his head.

“I told you if you had a girl baby I’d throw her in the river and I did,” he exclaimed as he turned and partially closed the door. He added, “Tomorrow, you’ll clean the barn. It smells like you. You’re such a loser.”

He slammed the door and locked it.

Soo Jin leaned back against the wall with her knees pulled up near her chest. Her breasts ached from engorgement, but the vaginal discharge from the delivery had ceased. She hoped to wash up in the morning after finishing her chores and then change into clean clothes. Yet, changing clothes presented a problem as Quon would watch on and might be aroused by her nakedness, something she could not bear to think about.

Although exhausted and filled with grief for her dead daughter, Soo Jin braced herself and refused to curl up on the mat. She needed to make decisions, ones she had postponed until after her baby was born. It now was time.

“Oh Jesus, if only You could help me today and not just when I’m dead and in heaven,” she whispered, not waiting for an answer or expecting one.

Fourteen months earlier, a frail woman at the prison camp near Hoeryong, North Korea, just across the Tumen River from China, told Soo Jin about Jesus. The woman quoted John 3:16 and stated that if Soo Jin believed in Jesus she would go to heaven when she died.

It was an easy decision to make because heaven sounded better than any future Soo Jin could ever have dreamt for herself. She asked Jesus into her heart. Peaceful warmth comforted her, but agony and hunger soon dimmed its effects. It was now a distant memory hidden in the recesses of her heart.

A friend convinced Soo Jin to escape the prison camp with her. This was another easy decision. Eating rice husks, having electric cattle prods stuck in every body cavity by guards, and watching mothers boil young children for food had driven her close to the edge of insanity and suicide. Escape seemed to be her only answer.

The two girls’ plan was simple: avoid the guards, cross the Tumen River at night, and live happily ever after in China. Their plan succeeded on two out of three counts.

As soon as they crossed the river, two traffickers captured them. Soo Jin’s thirty-year old friend was sold for 3,000 yuan ($761) to a Chinese prostitution ring. Soo Jin was purchased by the elderly Chinese bachelor, Quon, for 7,000 yuan ($1,066).

Thus began her yearlong ordeal at Quon’s farm. Farm chores. House chores. Constant sexual assaults. Beatings. Verbal abuse because she was a North Korean, a loser in Quon’s eyes. It all blended itself into a living Hell for Soo Jin.

Soo Jin made up her mind. She would no longer be a slave and a sperm depository for Quon. She would escape and take her chances. Maybe, this time, she would make it to South Korea.

“Oh, Jesus, why did You create me to be such a loser?” Soo Jin whispered.

Although the above is a fictional story, it is totally based on facts. And sadly, this nightmare continues for thousands and thousands of women in Asia.

My prayer today:

Lord, help us American believers to realize we will reap in the future what we sew today so that our hearts will be broken and opened up to praying and fasting for female prisoners in Asia. (Based on Galatians 6:7)

Tuesday’s Prayers for Prisoners (10/11/2016)

Another vision goaded me on even more.

In it, I saw myself arriving in heaven, but not for a glorious homecoming. A line of dark-skinned children, as far as I could see, waited to talk with me. Each, in turn, said, “I did not make it into my divine calling on earth because you failed to fulfill your calling. I starved to death as a young child.”

Sobering isn’t it?

Just think: if you or I fail to fulfill our divine callings here on earth, people may die, and go to Hell or even die young before they were able to walk in their divine callings. It’s one of those revelations we don’t like pondering. (Excerpt from The Hunt for Larry Who by Larry Nevenhoven, ©2014, Amazon eBook)

Heaven is filled with truth. Some of this truth will be revealed to us about ourselves at the Judgment Seat of Christ.

As for me, I have no doubts I’m a flawed person and that even my attempts to obey and follow Jesus Christ are also flawed at best. So, I want to send as many prayers, fastings, and offerings for Asia ahead of time to improve my position before the Judge.

My prayer today:

Lord, help us American believers to remember the prisoners who are suffering in Asia for their faith as though we are chained with them and to remember those believers who are mistreated in Asia since they are our brothers and sisters in Christ. (Based on Hebrews 13:3)

Tuesday’s Prayers for Prisoners (10/4/2016)

How many men had young David faced in battle before he faced Goliath? Not one.

Yet, he was not overwhelmed by the enormous odds facing him on that day. He knew God was for him and figured it didn’t matter who confronted him because his God was more than enough to win the battle.

My prayer today:

Lord, raise up young Davids in Asia who do not look at the Goliaths of poverty, communism, Buddhism, Islam, paganism, atheism, and whatever, but who only look to You, the Lord of hosts, and know the battle is Yours and You will give them victory. (Based on 1 Samuel 17:45-47)

Tuesday’s Prayers for Prisoners (9/27/2016)

Relevant Magazine’s article, Christian Persecution in China Is Even Worse Than You Thought, details the persecution Christians are now suffering in China:

It’s unprecedented persecution against the Church, where church leaders are going to prison, are being sent to mental institutions, are being beaten and tortured and where crosses have been forcibly removed from now over 1,800 churches since 2014. (Relevant Magazine)

In the article, Relevant Magazine suggests ways we Christians can help those suffering Chinese believers, such as legal means, Humans Rights Watch, Amnesty International, calling our senators, preaching, and of course, prayer.

My prayer ten years ago would have been a cry to the Lord for Him to stop the persecution and grant peace to the believers. But to be honest, my prayer at that time was based on a Western mindset, which was not experiencing persecution then…or today either.

I now agree with Brother Yun’s statement in his memoir , The Heavenly Man:

Once I spoke in the West and a Christian told me, “I’ve been praying for years that the Communist government in China will collapse, so Christians can live in freedom.” This is not what we pray! We never pray against our government or call down curses on them. Instead, we have learned that God is in control of both our own lives and the government we live under. Isaiah prophesied about Jesus, “The government will be on His shoulders.” (Isaiah 9:6)

God has used China’s government for His own purposes, moulding, and shaping His children as He sees fit. Instead of focusing our prayers against any political system, we pray that regardless of what happens to us, we will be pleasing to God.

Don’t pray for the persecution to stop! We shouldn’t pray for a lighter load to cary, but a stronger back to endure! Then the world will see that God is with us, empowering us to live in a way that reflects His love and power. (The Heavenly Man by Brother Yun and Paul Hathaway, © 2003, Piquant Editions, pp. 286-287)

My prayer today:

Lord, I pray that the Chinese believers will count it all joy as they undergo their present persecutions so that the testing of their faith will produce a patience, which will be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. (Based on James 1:2-4)

Join with me on Tuesdays to fast and pray for  prisoners in Asia, according to Hebrews 13:3.

Tuesday’s Prayers for Prisoners (9/20/2016)

The apostle Peter revealed the heart of God when he wrote:

The Lord is not slack concerning His promises, as some count slackness, but is long-suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9)

If this is one of the deepest desires of God, shouldn’t we feel the same way?

My prayer today:

Lord, help us American believers to see the people of Asia as You see them and then give us Your heart so that we are long-suffering in prayer and fasting for them.

Tuesday’s Prayers for Prisoners (9/6/2016)

David Yonggi Cho, founder of Yoido Full Gospel Church in Seoul, South Korea, has been a powerful influence in my life. It wasn’t because of his teachings, but because of a statement he made in an interview for Charisma Magazine over twenty-five years ago.

The interviewer asked Cho, “Will America ever have a church as large (830,000 members) as Yoida Full Gospel Church?”

“No, I don’t think so,” replied Cho, “because I don’t believe Americans are willing to pay the price in prayer that it would take to build a church like Yoido.”

His words acted as a slap-in-the-face challenge to me and has continued to spur me on over the years.

Cho himself was not converted from Buddhism to Christianity by a powerful church service, but instead, his altar was a bed he laid upon, dying from tubuculosis as seventeen year-old. Each day, a twelve-year old girl stopped by his bedside and read the Book of John to him. The young girl’s words angered Cho, but he was too weak to resist.

Finally, the words of John came to life for Cho who then gave his life to Jesus and was healed.

Now think about this for a moment: One twelve-year old girl touched one life that touched millions of people in Asia and also spawned the cell group movement in the West and America.

My prayer today:

Lord, pour out Your Spirit on millions of children in Asia so that these youths can evangelize billions of people and turn a continent from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to Christ.

Join with me on Tuesdays to fast and pray for prisoners in Asia, according to Hebrews 13:3.
